Fun day printing with my brother

I met my bro this week at Leicester and we spent the afternoon at Leicester print workshop. First time for Jonathan and he agreed with me that its a great little space to be creative. Lovely people, great facilities and freedom to do what you like. We worked on a couple of design’s Jonathan had put together. I chose more subtle colours gold and cream whereas Jonathan chose fluro pinks, greens and orange, results below x

New commission piece

I had stopped working on my Dot to Dot range until I had a nice surprise, a local lady and a lovely lady from Edinburgh both interested in purchasing a commissioned design within two weeks of each other, also what was a strange coincidence they both wanted the prints for their husbands birthdays. The photo below show’s one of the designs ‘Bubagump’ an unusual word that reminds the couple a trip they had in America.

Invitation design

Moving to Dubai I had to arrange a leaving do for my friends in Lincoln. My boyfriend Jim (creative director of Studio View) helped with the design and typography and I screen printed each invitation at home. I like the quality of a screen print it makes each invitation personal hopefully resulting in my friends wanted to keep and display the invitation until the party night.

Hazelworks Exhibition

This week I had the pleasure of attending a private viewing Hazelworks. It included the work of various artist displaying product and furniture design along with oil paintings and photography.

President’s Lecture: Daniel Eatock

Both myself and my brother really enjoy the work of Daniel Eatock so we jumped at the chance to go to London and attend the D&AD president’s lecture. Eatock talked through his a number of his favourite pieces of work, this included art pieces, sculptures and graphic design. I just love how he has an idea and go with it, it doesn’t matter if he finds out it actually can’t happen he learns from the process and has a story to tell from the marble sized 1 ton ball bearing to a unicycle on stabilizers.

Wooden jewellery

After attending the Superette workshop I was inspired to start creating a new range of jewellery that will allow me to use materials and skills I would not usually use. Below is a wooden necklace I created by hand in the workshop, I will be working on more designs in the coming weeks x

Superette jewellery workshop

Being a fan of Lady Luck Rules handmade fashion jewellery I jumped at the chance to go to the Superette jewellery workshop in London. The workshop was held in the Superette studio, 66a Sclater Street (just off Brick Lane). The workshop was full of practical advice and tips on jewellery making from materials, processes and suppliers. Alongside this we all got to make our own personalised necklace.
